Monster Storm Headed Toward the Midwest!
Thats right, a monster storm system is headed toward the midwest that promises to bring both Severe Thunderstorms and Tornadoes in the Southern USA, with heavy winter precip crippling the upper midwest! The energy is currently coming onto the coast in the Northwestern US. It will deepen in the Panhandle regions of Oklahoma and Texas before ejecting northeast.. Ahead of the system, precip will develop across the midwest.. In Kansas, cold air and strong winds will promote blizzard conditions. Closer to home in IA IL and MO, warm air intruding into the upper levels and cold air at the surface will promote areas of freezing rain and significant ICE Accumulations. Behind the storm, heavy snow accumulations will occur in the Dakotas, across Nebraska, Western and Northern Portions of Ioqa, and Kansas. Across IL and MO, heavy rain could lead to flash flooding and ice jams on local rivers, especially in West Central Illinois. This system's track is still relatively uncertain, but it is certain that somewhere will recieve significant winter precip, that could could involve heavy amounts of ice.
In the deep south, deep moisture and favorable shear will set the stage for a few Severe Thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon in the ARKLATEX Region.

Blizzard Conditions ContinueBLIZZARD CONDITIONS CONTINUE!! A strong low pressure has moved through the midwest up into the Chicago area. Strong winds on the back side of the low pressure system have created white out conditions in much of central Iowa and into Wisconsin. Local storm reports have suggested that 12-17 inches of snow have fallen throughout central Iowa. However constant 25- 35 mph winds are creating varied snow fall totals. Drifts of 5 to 6 feet are being seen the in the city of Ames Iowa, with higher drifts in more rural areas. Brandon Sullivan of Vortex Ventuers is currently in Cedar Rapids Iowa conducting interviews with local and national media outlets..
